ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMARY
The amphitheatre is located 36 miles / 59 km from downtown Washington, DC. The logistics of our environmental work were overshadowed by the torrential rain and subsequent road closings, complicating even the most simple travel plans. Though the venue was far from empty, an unfortunate number of people missed the show due to the horrific road conditions.
Carpooling:
We reserved approximated 1200 priority carpooling spots split between two lots. Though the car filtering system was in place for the first hour or so of parking, the heavy rains forced us to abandon any filtering attempts so we could speed traffic as much as possible.
Renewable Energy:
Novec Power currently has no renewable energy program.
Recycling:
The venue offers recycling throughout the entire venue compound, partnering each garbage can with a recycling station.
Catering:
Caterers provided washable plates, cutlery, and napkins for all meals. If disposable containers were absolutely necessary, we provided biodegradable cups and take away containers made from bagasse (sugar-cane paper).
Concessions:
This venue is currently using recycleable concessions cups.
Other green initiatives:
The venue is in the process of switching over to all high efficiency light bulbs. Taps have tap aerators and most shower heads are low flow. Office paper, toilet paper, and hand towels are made of recycled stock.
A special thanks to Ryan Shea and Peter Hansen for their logistical support.
